I’ve found some companies that DO offer shared JSP hosting but its still like $15 a month and only about a gig of space and limited traffic. While more established companies offer for example .NET hosting for half the price with unlimited space and bandwidth.
Why is this? I’m having a hard time believing that servlets are THAT much more resource expensive than comparable .NET applications…
I mean I’m suspecting its because Java isn’t really used at home and small business so its kind of expected that if you are hosting a Java application then you are a large entity who would need a dedicated server anyway.
But ASP.NET isn’t really used in the “personal” market either (though admittedly it is much more present than Java in the small business market). However, I still don’t think there should be such a huge gap.
